Deep Creek

Los Australianos son listos, si el día festivo cae en fin de semana, lo pasan al lunes siguiente, sí o sí hay día festivo, ¡como debe ser! El 26 de Enero es Australia Day tienes que hacer una barbacoa, también, sí o sí.  No, no es obligatorio, pero es lo que se hace, y te pones calcomanías de la bandera australiana y bebes mucha cerveza. En Adelaide suelen hacer un desfile de las diferentes comunidades, se visten con los trajes tradicionales y después actúan en Elder Park (el parque central). Se hace una ceremonia para felicitar a los nuevos ciudadanos de ese año, y normalmente se empieza con un baile de los aborígenes. Yo este año tampoco pude ir al desfile, porque como trabajo en una tienda, el sábado sí que trabajé, pero ayer lunes no, raro verdad? Yo tampoco lo entiendo, pero oye, al menos sí que tuve un día libre extra. Nos fuimos de senderismo a una reserva natural que se llama Deep Creek, vino bien para bajar las hamburguesas del fin de semana, respirar aire puro y ver flora curiosa local.

Aussies are clever, if the public holiday turns up to be  on a weekend, it’s moved to the following working day, either way there would be a public holiday, the way it should be!  Australia day is on the 26 of January, you must do a BBQ, yes or yes. It’s not compulsory, but it’s what people normally do, you stick Australian flag’s stickers and drink heaps of beer. In Adelaide they do a parade from different cultures, they show up with traditional dresses and then act in Elder Park (Adelaide’s central park). A ceremony is been held to congratulate new Australian citizenships on that year, started with an aboriginal traditional dance. I could not go to the parade as I  DID have to work , but I was off on Monday, weird right? I don’t quite understand too, but listen, at least I had an extra day off. We went hiking to a natural reserve called Deep Creek, it came all right to burn the burgers we had on the weekend, breath fresh air and admire local flora.
