¡Vamos a coser!

¡Hola! ¿Quien tiene una máquina de coser llena de polvo? ¿Quien dice que la costura es asignatura 

pendiente? Venga, no hay escusas que valgan, si conseguis hacer este primer proyecto podreis hacer lo impensable. Pero cuidado, ¡que engancha!

Nota: no soy una experta, simplemente comparto como hice este delantal para que deis una oportunidad a esa maquina de coser que os grita cada vez que pasais por delante de ella. Como podéis ver,  he creado un una serie de dibujos para que se entienda mejor (espero). 

Por último, os quiero pedir un favor, si es que lo hacéis, ¿seréis tan maj@s de enviarme una foto? O al menos, decirme si se entiende.

Y ahora ¡sí! ¡A coser se ha dicho!

Paso 1: Cortar todas las piezas y preparar la cinta bies.

Paso 2: Bolsillo. Sobrehilar (puntada zigzag) los cuatro lados. Doblar a 1cm los laterales y el borde de abajo, planchar con el dobladillo hacia el interior. Una vez los tres lados están bien planchados doblar la parte superior a 2.5 cm y planchar.

Paso 3: Colocar el bolsillo encima del delantal, asegurar con alfileres y coser todo el alrededor, cuanto más al borde mejor. No  os emocionéis y cosáis la parte superior que si no nos sirve para meter nuestras cositas. Recomiendo hacer una costura por el medio del bolsillo para que quede más firme. ¡¡Ya tenemos bolsillo!!

Paso 4: las tiras traseras. Doblamos la pieza por la mitad, frente con frente dejando la parte interior a la vista. Cosemos a lo largo dejando 1cm (o misma anchura del pie de la máquina de coser). Damos la vuelta a las tiras, así las costuras nos quedarán en el interior. Hacemos que la costura quede en medio del ancho de la tira y lo planchamos.

Paso 5: delantal + tiras traseras. Juntamos el lado de la costura de las tiras traseras con la parte trasera del delantal. Cosemos solo el final de la tira que coincide con la cadera no la de los hombros. Repetimos lo mimo con la otra tira.

Paso 6: cinta bies. Cosemos el bies a lo largo de todo el delantal, escondiendo las costuras de las tiras que acabamos de coser. En la parte de los hombros se verán los finales de la cinta bies.

Paso 7: Remate final. Doblamos 1cm de tela hacia dentro de las tiras y cubrimos el final de la parte de los hombros del delantal, cosemos una doble puntada para rematar bien. (1 línea junto al borde y otra línea a 0.5cm).

Hellooo!! Is anyone there who has a dusty sewing machine? or anyone who is always willing to start sewing? So now is the time to stop thinking and start to create. Once you finish this project you are ready to sew whatever comes to your head :) But watch out! is adictive ;)


Note: I´m not an expert I am just showing you how I made this apron and I want you to give an opportunity to your poor sewing machine who screams at you everytime you pass through. I also draw the process, hopefully to make it more understandable. 


And finally, if you are going to give it a go, I would love to have some feedback to see how did it go. And I do apologize for my spanglish in advance ;)  


Let´s start!:


Step 1: cut all the pieces as shown in the drawing and create your own bias tape in case you haven´t got one.


Step 2: Pocket. Overlock all four corners. Fold 1cm to the wrong side of the fabric. Iron 3 sides. Repeat the same with the top corner but this time fold it to 2.5cm and iron. 


Step 3: Place the pocket on the apron and pin it. Sew all three corners and plain machine the middle of the pocket from top to bottom in order to keep our tools more safely.


Step 4: back strips. Fold one of the strips right sides together. Leave 1cm seam allowance and plain machine. Turn the piece; make the seam allowance to be in the middle of the width and iron. Repeat the action with the second strip.


Step 5: apron + back strips. Place wrong side of the strip (where the seam is) on top of the wrong side of the apron. Plain machine just the bottom of the strips to the apron. Repeat the action with the other strip.


Step 6: bias tape. Sew the bias tape all around the apron starting from the shoulder, matching right side of the bias + wrong side of the apron. Once it has been sewn fold the bias covering the edges and sew it from the right side of the apron.


Step 7: Final shot. Fold 1cm fabric into the strips and cover the shoulder of the apron hiding the ending of the bias tape + the edge of the apron. Top stitch it and that´s it! You are ready for the next project!
