A quilt for Martina

Ya nació Martina, la hija de mi amiga Lidia de la que últimamente tanto os he hablado. Ha sido muy especial vivir el embarazo con ella, es como cuando lo viví con mi hermana y nació mi sobrino Ur. Al estar las dos lejos de casa y al ser tan sentimentales, nos tenemos la una a la otra, prácticamente ella sabe toda mi vida y yo la de ella. Recuerdo el día en el que me lo dijo, lo que llevaba puesto, como sonreía y el abrazo y los saltos que dimos y luego nos echamos a medio reír con ojos brillantes, cosas de chicas. También les acompañé a la consulta del médico cuando les dijeron que era una niña. Cuando fui a su casa a ver a Martina por primera vez, alaaa más emoción! somos de lágrima fácil, esta vez de alegría.

Hice esta mantita para ella, para que la babee a gusto, para que aprenda a darse la vuelta, para que de sus primeros pasos a gatas, que le tapen cuando se duerma y para que se lleve un cachito de mi cuando se muden a Noruega. Otros que se van, eso será otra historia.

Martina is born, my friend Lidia’s daughter, from which I have talked so much lately. It’s been very special living the pregnancy with her, a little bit similar to my sister’s when my nephew Ur was born.  We both are far from home and both are so sentimental, that is one of the main reasons we are so close to each other. She pretty much knows all my life as I know hers. I remember the day she told me she was pregnant, I even remember what she was wearing, how she smiled, we hugged and jumped together, and then we started to lough on watery eyes, girly things. I also accompanied them to the doctor when they were told it was a girl. When I first went to their place to meet the baby girl for the first time, it was so emotional, we both easily cry, that’s not a secret anymore, this time were happy tears.

I made this quilt for Martina so she can drool it out, she can learn how to turn herself, she can start crawling and they can cover her up when she is sleeping. She will have something made with love for her from when they move to Norway. Yes, one more couple leaving us, that would be another story.
