York Peninsula

Ir a trabajar un sábado por la mañana no es tan duro sabiendo que cuando termines vendrán a buscarte para irte de puente a unas playas idílicas. Nos juntamos con otras tres parejas, unos vascos, unos alemanes y australiano americana. No es gente que conocemos hace mucho tiempo no quita para que congeniáramos de maravilla. Los alemanes, por supuesto, lo tenían todo estudiado, los demás nos dejamos llevar.

Llegamos al camping por la noche, preparamos la cena y estuvimos de charleta, bajo las estrellas, que en medio de la nada se veían millones. A la mañana siguiente nos despertamos y nos dimos cuenta que estábamos a metros de la playa, lo primero que hicimos fue bañarnos, qué sino! Desayunamos con la calma y dedicamos el día a recorrer el sur de la península, yendo de playa en playa. En una de ellas, pasó una familia de delfines, Gorka cogió la tabla de surf y se acercó a ellos, nosotros a nado pues no llegamos tan cerca, pero la sensación de estar cerca fue increíble. Continuamos hasta llegar a otra zona de acampada libre. Lo bueno de vivir en El estado de South Australia es que vayas donde vayas puedes encontrar un lugar con poco o con nadie de gente. Cenamos y seguimos de charleta, esta vez las estrellas fugaces volaban por encima de nuestras cabezas, pedí muchos deseos, sí!

El próximo día hacia muchísimo calor, no se podía estar en la arena tomando el sol, o estábamos en el agua o íbamos a otra playa. Nos las tuvimos que ingeniar para crear una sombra a la hora de comer, tampoco nos importó tanto, más disfrutábamos del agua color turquesa. Fueron unas mini-vacaciones bonitas para recordar, no sólo por los lugares sino también por lo a gusto que estuvimos con ellos.

Having to work on a Saturday is not that hard knowing that when you finish they will come and pick you up and you will go on a long weekend to paradisiac beaches. We joined three other couples, some from The Basque Country, Germans and Aussie/American. They are friends we meet not long ago; however, we did get along very well. The Germans, of course, had everything under control, the rest of us let ourselves go.

We arrived to the campsite at night, made some dinner and chatted under millions of stars. Next morning we woke up and realized we were a few meters from the beach, so, no need to say, the first thing we did was to have a swim, what else could you do! We had breakfast calmly and spent the day driving the south of the peninsula, going from beach to beach. In one of those, a whole family of dolphins just passed by, Gorka took his surfboard and approach to them, the rest of us couldn’t get that close, although the feeling of being not that far from them was unbelievable. Afterwards we drove to the next campsite, again in the middle of nowhere with barely anyone. The good thing about living in the state of South Australia is that no matter where you go there will be few or no people around. We had dinner and continued chatting, this time shooting stars flew above our heads, I did made a lot of wishes!

The following day was very very very hot; there was no way you would sunbath, no option but to stay in the water or changing beaches. We had to come with a good plan to create some shadow by lunchtime, didn’t bother much though, we could enjoy much more the turquoise water.

It’s been a great mini vacation to remember, not only for the amazing places but also for how comfy we felt with the entire group.
