A walk to the forest in Olinda

Veo tantas fotos de invierno en Instagram que en parte no me importa que llegue el frío. El sábado amaneció nublado y con pinta de llover, me puse las botas de goma y nos fuimos a dar un paseo por el bosque de The Dandenongs Ranges. Parecía mentira que a 30 km estuviera la ciudad, con la tranquilidad y el aire puro que se respiraba ahí. Nos dejamos llevar por los caminitos, la altura de los árboles y los cánticos de los pajaritos, hasta que el hambre dijo, hasta aquí hemos llegado. Fuimos a tiro fijo, según nos habían recomendado,  al mejor sitio de meat pies, una especie de hojaldre con carne, y pedimos un clásico con las patatas cocidas, los guisantes y una salsa llamada gravy, es la que suele acompañar a la carne asada. Ya estábamos listos para echarnos una buena siesta!

I see so many winter photos on Instagram that I don’t mind cold weather coming. Saturday started cloudy and looking as it was going to rain, I took my rubber boots and went for a walk through the forest at the Dandenong rangers. It was hard to believe the city was only 30 minutes away, feeling that fresh air and the serenity was heart-warming. Amazed by the height of the trees and the singing of the birds, we let ourselves get lost on the different tracks, until our empty bellies said, “That’s it, let’s go and have something to eat”. We went straight to the best meat pies place, recommended by our friends. We ordered a classic one with mashed potatoes, peas and gravy. After all that we were ready for a good siesta!
